8.18.10 Anthropologie: Anna Sui + Keith Johnson

On Monday night, I had the opportunity to visit Anthropologie’s headquarters in Philadelphia’s Navel Yard. I have been to the Urban Inc. complex a few times before, but every time I visit I am even more impressed – it is a truly inspiring environment!

Monday’s event was a special screening of Man Shops the Globe featuring antique buyer Keith Johnson and designer Anna Sui. Both were in attendance and I must admit, I was a bit star struck by Anna Sui – she sat right behind me!

The night started with cocktails and mingling. There was an interesting display of antiques, but in all honesty, the people watching was the best part of the night. Tons of beautiful dresses, interesting tops, but the highlight was definitely shoes! Wedges made from all sorts of materials, great looking pumps in a range of unique colors, drool-worthy shoes left and right – I should have documented.

After cocktails we entered a screening room where we got a sneak peak of Man Shops the Globe, Syria. The show documented Keith and Anna’s shopping quest throughout Syria. The episode explored the process of buying unique items and highlighted the difficulties surrounding production. Between the beautiful visuals, interesting commentary on Syrian culture and hints of humor, I will definitely be checking out the series in its entirety.

After the movie Anna and Keith sat for a Q&A, we all went back out into the main room for more cocktails and some appetizers. All in all it was a great night – there were gift bags too!

Check out Man Shops the Globe on the Sundance Channel and of course a special Thanks to Anthropologie!
