Trend Alert: Round Sunnies

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

Try to look past the vintage feel these retro style sunnies give, and instead, look ahead to the modern-with-a-twist days that are coming.

Let’s go from John Lennon to Nicole Richie, from Ozzy Osbourne to the Olsen twins and from Woodstock to Gaga!

The Spring runways were packed with round sunglasses… Ralph Lauren, Dries Van Noten & Proenza Schouler were just a few that opted for these lovely frames.

Move over aviators, and bring on the 70’s!

Learn how to stack watches

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

You have obviously seen the latest accessorizing trend of layering oversized watches and bracelets… Yes, an easy trend to follow since it is all about mismatched colors, different widths, materials and finishes.

The most important piece is of course, the watch!  An oversized masculine watch with lots of bracelets as seen in these street style looks…

The Christmas of Fashion: Fashion Week!

Friday, September 16th, 2011

It is probably one of the most exciting times for fashionistas everywhere as Fashion Week is in full effect. We’ve been glued to our computers as we have been researching up to the minute updates on what’s been hot on the runway. We’ve been in awe at some of the new trends that have emerged such as the ‘Sporty Chic’ look and old trends that are here to stay-such as color blocking. A major trend alert that has been seen in many collections: Peplum! This may give us a flashback into the 80’s but be prepared to see it when you are out doing your spring shopping. The trend adds a girly touch to your wardrobe whether it be on your jacket, sweater or even your basic tops. Another 80’s look taking over the runway? The Mullet.  No, not the awful hairstyle. Mullet Hems. You know, short in the front, long in the back. Seen mostly on skirts and dresses, the look gives an illusion that you are wearing a mini when looking at you from the front, but someone looking at you from the back will think you are wearing a long skirt. It’s a great look for formal events.

We couldn’t help but have a fashion week special that you can find as soon as you log on to Chickdowntown.  Find all the latest looks and spring 2012 fashions when you clock on the homepage banner on Chickdowntown. Happy Shopping!

There are so many trends to keep up with this fall, from 70’s glamour and lace to color blocking and feathers it just doesn’t stop. One trend that seems to standout though, is Menswear for Women. To sport this trend doesn’t mean borrowing you boyfriends button up and slacks, but rather sporting a masculine looking blazer or a pair of trousers but still putting a feminine touch to the look so that you don’t go overboard. This week on Chickdowntown, we are celebrating this look by having a sale spotlight on this trend. You’ll find blazers, wide leg trousers, loose fitted button ups and other “masculine but feminine” items. It’s a bold trend but true fashionistas like you can surely pull it off with no problem.

Also this week, summer is slowly but surely coming to an end and although it may be settling in that your lazy days at the beach are over, there’s still something to celebrate: Great designer merchandise on Chickdowntown! This week we have an amazing back to school special featuring HUNDREDS of fall must-haves. From denim to watches to shoes and sunglasses, chickdowntown has all your fall essentials. Expect to be talked about-in a good way, and be ranked Best Dressed this year!

Take a look at the Menswear for Women Trend Below. What do you think of this trend? Is it too masculine or is it easy to pull off with the right accessories?

One style that seems to be here for the long run is skinny jeans. Blue, black, white, purple or even orange, they continue to make a statement no matter what they color or wash. Pair those skinny jeans with a sexy lace top and you’ve got our next summer trend-lace! Lace tops, dresses and even accessories are a must this summer. Not only that, they keep you cool as well! If you’re looking for something to spice up your closet, add a little plaid into your life. This week we have a special on plaid tops, dresses, jackets- another favorite this season. Some find it difficult to wear plaid and not feel..well…farmer girl-ish. To avoid this feeling, pair your plaid top with a pair of sexy skinny jeans or shop our fitted plaid dresses from Chloe.
