I always thought being a “Fashion Buyer” (that’s what I called it when everyone used to ask me what I wanted to do when I “grow up”) would be the most glamorous job! I never dreamed I’d be styling the shoots, casting the models, approving ad layouts, ect. All these things seemed like something someone else much more exciting, like Anna Wintour, would do. Half the time I’m embarrassed to admit being associated with chickdowntown.com, due to my disheveled appearance, but most of the time I am WAY to busy to even bother. Before I was doing this, I was taking a hiatus off work all together; I was just married and I was every bit the image of someone in the fashion industry. I was always in spectacular platform heels, great blow out, perfect manicure and spray tan, and almost every evening, I was dressed up in cocktail attire for a great show or something fabulously sleazy for a club in Miami. Even poolside I had the perfect ensemble including ankle bracelets and layers of great necklaces to wear with my swimsuit laying by the pool!! Back then, I had all the time in the world for that stuff. I am literally sitting here now in DESPERATE need of my hair colored, spray tan, blah, blah, blah, but have not had the time to even think of when to schedule an apt. Each day something big creeps up and the day I thought was going to be uneventful, ends up full of drama and leaves me at the office until after 7PM.
Tomorrow I will start pulling items for the shoot on Friday. I was really disappointed in the last shoot, because the shots did not come together to create a cohesive homepage, which I blame myself for, so this week I will make sure I have not one but TWO great homepages and look book images. I have also been working nights and weekends on my “Secret Project”, which should be unveiled this Friday. I think fashion lovers will really appreciate it. While this job may not be as glamorous as it may seem, it is so much fun to open the boxes of new inventory as they arrive, and as I have been known to do – SNAG A FEW PIECES FOR MYSELF. Such a perk!! This is what I snagged this week:

Can’t wait to see what the “secret project” is

Good choices on the steals, I’ve been eyeing that dress since it went up… And you’re probably way too hard on yourself; you look great every time you put up pictures. And put such an adorable boy on your arm (Brody) and ::poof:: anyone would look good

Luvs the WILDFOX COUTURE Dream of Ice Cream tee. A completely delish tee for summertime.
Personally, I can relate to any girl who loves fashion but is not always fashionable. Makes me feel quite normal. I see things all the time that I would like to wear or own, but I can’t. Oh well. That’s why I have closet cravings. =)
Thanks for sharing! One of my favorite posts. I like a little imperfection.
