“Free and easy culture and a classic, nostalgic vision of the American life style at its best,” that’s how founder and creative director Donwan Harrell explains his PRPS denim line. With a mix of high quality materials and a sense of American hard-working tradition, these jeans have a lot of thought and work put into them.

Inspiration at Home and Away
After traveling the world looking for ideas, Harrell found that he most admired the Japanese for their craftsmanship.

The sizes were mostly small, though, so he combined the premium quality with the values he learned growing up in North Carolina and Virginia. The denim references aspects of military uniform, work wear and hunting apparel. Each cut, tear and mark is carefully planned, but no two pieces are exactly the same.

Foreign Materials for the Finest Quality
PRPS Jeans are made from African Cotton. After searching for the best organic cotton, the team found it in Africa. The country has the ideal climate for growing the strongest cotton for use. All of the cotton is inspected by the farmers there.

PRPS jeans feature a unique purple selvedge edge.
The cotton is then shipped to Japan where it is woven on vintage Levis shuttle looms. Although there are drawbacks to this process (time, waste, productivity), the end result is superior in durability, texture and touch. After spending time in the small towns, the agreement was made to produce the jeans for Harrell, PRPS being the only American company to do so.
